Notes link to each other
Knowledge base, part 2 of 4
A note on its own is a page. A note that points at other things — and knows what points at it — is the start of a knowledge base. That is what this release adds.
What’s new
Type [[ to link. In any note, type two square brackets and a list appears under your cursor with everything you have: notes, tasks, projects, areas, even loose captures in your inbox. Keep typing to narrow it, use the arrow keys or the mouse to choose, and the brackets become a link to that thing’s page. Escape dismisses the list if you didn’t mean it.
Links are ordinary links. What lands in your note is a normal markdown link — the title as the text, the page as the address. If you copy the note somewhere else, the links still work. Nothing special is stored, so nothing special can break.
Every note shows its connections. At the bottom of a note is a Links panel with two lists: what this note links to, and what links here. The second list is the interesting one. Write about the kitchen tiles in three different notes and each of them now points back to the tile research, without anyone maintaining an index.
Tasks and projects know who mentions them (added 2026-09-15). Open a task, or a project’s page, and if any of your notes link to it there is a quiet line saying so — “2 notes mention this” — that unfolds into the notes themselves. Nothing mentions it, nothing is shown.
Links follow the note. Rename a project and the links to it keep working, because they point at the thing, not at its name. Delete the thing and the link text stays in your note as words; only the connection goes.
How it works
When you save a note, Projectifier reads the links in it and turns each one that points at something you own into a connection in your graph — the same kind of connection that already records which task blocks which, or which project sits in which area. The connections are updated in the same step as the note is saved, so the graph never disagrees with the text: add a link and a backlink appears at the other end; remove it and the backlink goes.
Links to things that aren’t yours are left alone. The text keeps them; the graph ignores them.
Coming next: suggested links, where Projectifier notices that two notes are about the same thing before you do. On the Adaptive plan your choices about those suggestions help train the shared model everyone uses; on the Private plan they train a model that is yours alone.
